I have spent some time in the greater Burlington area, family in Montpelier. I have always had a good time there. There are some great restaurants, bars, that kind of thing(Magic Hat brewery, NECI Cafe, Ben and Jerry's). It's a pretty unique scene, college town, and allot of tourist. Burlington kind of has it's own feel to it, kind of like Portsmouth NH does. I think that you would have to be an outdoors kind of person to really take full advantage of the area. The winter season is huge, skiing making up most of the activities. If you ski, Burlington is a great town to live in. Stowe is really close, short hop over to Jay Peak. Canada is right there, making Montreal easily accessible. If you can support yourself up there, it's a pretty cool part of the world.
