Bad car day (long)

12/09/2004 was a bad car day at our house.
First, driving from Portland, OR, to Seattle in a heavy rainstorm, my V70R drove like a dream. Interrupting the dream were 2 huge rocks, one of which dinged the window, the other of which dinged the hood through the clear bra. Damn.
After fighting traffic through Tacoma and Seattle, I arrived home at 4:00. Called the insurance company to get the glass fixed.
While on the phone with the glass shop, my wife called. She got rear-ended in her 9-5 sedan. And the person who hit her drove off, so it was a hit-and-run. Fortunately she got the license plate number of the perpetrator as they were driving away. The police are investigating. The 9-5's rear bumper cover is cracked and scraped, but my wife is fine, though she was really shaken when it happened. The police came to our house and took a report, etc. Just a mess.
Later in the evening the phone rang again. It was the woman who bought my '95 Saab 900s in May when I got my V70R. I owned that car for 8 years and 130,000 miles before selling it to her. I obsessed over that car, and was sad to see it go even though the V70R replace it. I still miss the car. She asked me whether I knew of anybody who would want to buy the 900 with clutch/transmission problems. She has only driven it 1500 miles since May, because she didn't know how to drive a manual transmission car very well, and she presumably fried the clutch. She said that she'll sell the car (my beautiful car!) for scrap or parts if I know anybody who'll buy it. It broke my heart... I'm ready to buy it back and fix it for myself, though I don't know how much she wants for the car nor how much a clutch replacement will cost.
Anyhow it was a bad car day. Damage to all 3 of my cars.. even though I only own two of them! I'm hoping that's behind me now for a while.
