I can say that the dollar sux right now, but that does not put a damper on the things that can be experienced here. I have lived in several European countries and it's pretty much like zeke says. However, I wouldn't recommend Spain at this time as that's the only place that I have been to in Europe where I had a direct confrontation with an armed terrorist. It's not the anti-Americanism there but more like terrorist abound. Heck, walk into any large dicso, bar etc there and they're staffed with armed bouncers(!). I've had several unpleasant experiences there. I highly recommend Scandinavia, however. One tip I can give you about visiting any country... make an attempt to learn about the people/culture and that starts by learning some of the language. A butchered attempt would get you a roomful of smiles and laughs but a rebellious "speak English or die" attitude buys you dirty looks and standoffishness.
