Apologies to Debra Kelly-Ennis, but I'm very encouraged by her letter to Saab dealers. I'm quoting:
"Make no mistake: 2005 will be the biggest product launch year in Saab's entire history here in the US. We've learned a lot with our 9-2X launch and we must apply that learning to our future launches. The 9-3 will definitely gain strength as the backbone of our portfolio, with the addition of a new, extra versatile bodystyle and a high-horsepower turbo V6. The appeal of the 9-3 convertible will broaden with an attractively priced linear model. The 9-5 will be freshened and we'll show a concept of an entirely new 7-passenger Saab crossover."
That says a couple of things to me: The 9-3 SportHatch "extra versatile bodystyle" will be introduced later in 2005, I'd guess as a MY2006. The "high-horsepower V6" will also come in calendar year 2005, I've heard as a special edition Vert, perhaps the return of the Viggen, again as a MY2006 maybe. We'll see the Saab/Subaru 9-6X "entirely new 7-passenger Saab crossover" concept this year in 2005. Production possible in 2006, likely as a MY2007. That we'll see a freshed 9-5 this calendar year, again likely a MY2006.
Great news all around.
