I must say I like the V6 in the 9-5 EXCEPT the badly engineered timing belt setup. How they could let that slip away for so long when other car manufacturers are running 100K between changes without problems is beyond me.
The engine is strong and the oil leaks are pretty much gone that the NG900/9000 engine had.
The intake manifold doesn't need to be removed to get to the rear spark plugs as was the case with the NG900/9000 V6.
It has a lot of get up and go and quite frankly it keeps chugging along as long as the whole timing belt setup is replaced every 60K miles.
US customers demands big engines, that is nothing we can change. Even Volvo offer a V8 now in 2005 for their XC90 (their first one in cars).
So I can only hope that the new V6 behind the curtains doesn't have any hidden problems that we are going to see some years from now.
