After living on a golf course for two yrs¸ I finally decided to try playing golf (Dec. 04'). I managed to talk wifey into letting me pick my Christmas gift and of course I got a set of clubs. And yes¸ I think I’m hooked. I got a set of entry level clubs ($500 new) and perhaps once I’m playing the PGA Tour¸ I’ll get a set of pro clubs for a gazillion dollars. Or maybe not.

I use to view golf as a wussy sport for old guys and the snobby elite. But oh how I’ve been proven wrong. Golf is a tough sport! My misinformed¸ preconceived notions dissolved into utter embarrassment as I was humbled on the course…while repeatedly swinging the club and missing the ball. I’ve been hitting the driving range once or twice a week since Christmas and things have improved. However¸ I’ve a long¸ long way to go.

But I’ve learned some elementary wisdom…

Don’t knock it till you try it.
Don’t judge a book by its cover.
Take vaccine for foot-in-mouth disease or be prepared to eat your words.
