If you can make it for JazzFest that's the best time to come. This year it's between April 22 - May 1. If Mardi Gras is not your thing, JazzFest is absolutely the best time to come. Great music, great food, great _FRIENDLY_ people all out to have a howlin' good time!
Since Mardi Gras is very early this year (Feb. 8th) and Easter is in late March, the Spring Breakers should not be a problem, although you may have young free spirits in for the Fest itself.
Temperature in late April and May can't be better but by late May we can see temps in the upper 80's to 90's. Humidity is always a gamble... N.O. is after all between the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Pontchartrain.
As far as lodging goes, N.O. has some of the best Hotels worldwide... it's a matter of what your budget is like. The JazzFest link below has some hotels listed and there are some fabulous B&B's in the area. Corporate "long term stay" hotel/motels are also in the area. After checking out the JazzFest site, try googling for B&B's in the New Orleans area. There are some gorgeous homes open for travelers, but again your own budget is what counts.
Come down and pass a good time...
Allen in New Orleans
P.S: Go on a diet before you come. The food here is tops (and rich, and fattening, and always worthy of seconds)
