I think the official downtown total was about 24 inches, but when I was shovelling, I measured 30 inches every place I took a measurement. (We got another six inches last night.) It took us about five hours to clear out our two parking places in front of the house: city snow regulations prohibit us from parking on that side of the street in a storm, but for whatever reason the plows didn't even try to plow to the curb, leaving us with an area about six feet wide, more than twenty feet long, and almost three feet deep that had to be cleared by hand. So DON'T move my barrel and take my spot! (The last guy who did that to us came out the next morning to find his car completely buried in snow. We just took all that we'd shovelled out and put it right back in.)

Our back yard is mostly enclosed, with fences on two sides and a ten-foot wall at the back, and the configuration of the yard combined with the wind ended up with snow depths of several feet in some places back there. I have a photo (which I won't bother trying to post :-b ) that shows a drift almost topping a six-foot fence. Our patio furniture is almost completely buried, our back door won't open, and our shed (which contains the snowshoes!) is inaccessible.

My car is a far cry from the shiny beauty that won a prize at SCD. It's filthy, ice-encrusted, salt stains up to the windows, icicles hanging off the spoiler and grill, ugly winter wheels with studded tires, and a variety of shovels, brushes, scrapers, towels, and bungee cords all over the front and back seats. And that's the way things will remain until April. :)
