I am learning with (age, experience, prior mistakes,...) that shopping for these kind of items is a waste of time.
I really shopped for my last washer/ dryer set. Was comparing functionalities (of which there are many of late) and finally decided on one that had some niceties. Such as water temp. control intake (so that warm in winter is same as warm in summer- cold water is a lot colder in winter here in Montreal) and moisture sensor on the dryer.
Well. It has been almost a year and I have yet to read the manuals... I use one program on the washer and pretty much same on the dryer...
And sitting here at work, I couldn't tell you which brand I bought (can't remember) And it seemed so important then!!!
Buy large capacity (i.e. Heavy duty), metal (and not plastic) drum and off you go.
Even Maytag are not what they used to be.
My 2 cents...
