They've just gotten too big. Don't CEO's read history books?
I've just ended 2.5 years as an HP OpenView Administrator. We finally canned the program because, in large part, the lack of support we got from HP. This is a big cash cow for them (but probably not as big as printer cartridges) that allows them to collect Big Bucks in consultant fees. And after a while, that's just what it looks like, consultants billing..and billing...and billing.
We finally got smart and kicked the consultants out and it was handed to me to try to salvage. I did, but by that time our admins were so frustrated with HP's failed promises they refused to use it. I was frustrated as well with my attempts to get support, and subsequent calls from them with customer satisfaction surveys.
I shudder to think what will happen to HP, and all the well-meaning folks who work there, but the problem is it's left hand doesn't know what it's right hand is doing, nor what it's mouth is speaking.
C.
