Took two daughters and two young granddaughters down over Spring Break.
We rented a house about 8 miles away for about $100 a night. Had 3 bedrooms, kitchen, pool, etc. Could make breakfast, then go to park.
Ate lunch in park, then home when kids (or daughters) started dragging.
Kids swam, then had supper and collapsed. Drawback--busiest time in since 9/11. Parking lots were actually closed because they were full (though we were already there).
Next time was with son-in-law, daughter and granddaughter 9about 5). Son-in-law is in wheel chair. Stayed onsite- pricey, but convenient. The early opening available to guests is a plus if you are trying to get in a bunch of rides. Bus transportation was right at the hotel, or the monorail came by, depending on where you were going. Eating in the hotel was also a bit pricey, but food was quite good. This one worked well--
and off site wouldn't have been as convenient. Incidently, son-in-law came only because he had to---brought his computer so he could do work, keep in touch with job, etc. As we left, he grinned and said he had never opened the computer.
In earlier times, we've also stayed off (in timeshare) and on. Either way works for us.
