Thinking about a newer car of late. Specifically interested in a FWD or AWD (strongly prefer FWD) wagon with smaller powerplant that is safe enough to trust a mother and child to. I figure my price randge is aound the 4-6 year old european imports. Anyone do this sort of comparison shopping lately? My short list consists of Passat 1.8t and 9-5 2.3t. (Volvo, Subaru, and audi wagons seem too over hyped and priced, Mazda 6 is too new and only comes w/ a 6cyl, AWD seems unnesessary in my minnesota driving experience...) I don't care about leather seating, moonroofs, or auto climate control - heck I don't even like AC, so the extra "amenities" of the 9-5 don't really sway me. Anyone care to share back of the envelope observations?
regards,
nt
