Read the oil bible, it may change your mind. Synthetic oil is so far superior to dino oil. Dino oil in its natural state is single weight. They have to put additives in it to try to get it to act like a multi-weight oil. It only works to a certain degree, which is why you'll never see 0W30, or 0W40 dino oil. Synthetic oil is engineered from the start to be multiweight. It also has uniform particle size, whereas dino oil does not. Dino oil begins to break down almost immediately, and this is what dictates the drain interval. Dino oil will be black very soon after you change it. With synthetic, the additive package is what runs out long before the oil itself breaks down. I drain my synthetic oil at 10k miles/1 year and can still see through it.
