I have two friends who have had this done. The first friend had the process initialy done to correct deep scratches in the glaze, then had to have it redone twice at two year intervals before finally selling the house and leaving the problem to the new owner. The second friend had similar problems after only two years or so and then had a liner installed in their tub. After five years their liner still looks great and they proudly show it off to others considering having the work done.
We recently opted to install a liner in our tub/shower with full wall panels to hide a hideous greenish gold tub with gold ceramic tile from the late 70's. Considering the cost of this option, approx $3000, it might be worth it to pay $300 every two years for a re-glaze. Advantage of the liner is a half-day install with only a 24 hour waiting period to re-use the shower. (72 hours to use it as a tub). With only 1-1/2 baths in our home, we couldn't go with a whole new tub scenario and the week or two time required for completion.
Liners come in a variety of colors and finishes, to mimic ceramic tile, marble, etc. Choice of Re-glaze or liner Depends how long you want the good looks to last.
