I will be "inheriting" a fairly late-model vehicle in the next week or so. In order to take care of some personal finances and obligations, I'm wanting to sell this vehicle quickly. If I were to advertise the vehicle privately, I would probably have to spend at least several weeks allowing individuals to look at the vehicle, test drive it, and negotiate the price. In order to expedite the process, I'm looking at selling the vehicle to CarMax...anyone have any experience with this?

If so, what does CarMax base the appraisal on? I see on their website that they use Kelley Blue Book to help determine the cost, but KBB tends to be quite a bit lower than NADA or even Edmunds. Do I have the power to negoitate with the appraiser, or is the value pretty much set in stone? This will probably be a trade-in value rather than a private party or resale value, so is it worth even exploring this option? Are there hidden costs associated with this? The website seems to describe a simple process, but I would really appreciate it if anyone could offer their personal experience(s).

If any questions may arise or additional information is needed, please feel free to let me know. Thanks in advance, as I greatly appreciate any and all feedback. Drive safely, and KEEP ON SAABING!!!
