Had VPC 7.01 on both my G4 533 mhz and my new imac G5 1.8 ghz. To be honest, I don't have big windows softwares like photoshop or msoffice. I am running IE5, tax softwares, some small utility stuff and my daughter's Barbie and other games.
On my (old) G4, I had to maximize performance, so I boosted my RAM to 640 meg, put a 7200rpm ata100 hard drive and finally put an old ATI Radeon 8500 video card. Running windows 2000 pro was OK. The system was not responsive as fast as a real pc, there was a moderate lag. But once the software loaded it was running just fine. IE 5 was even running faster than IE for mac??
On my G5 running win2k, the speed is ok. I am confortable with it, as fast as my few years old pc at work running 2k. Was doing tax report earlier and it was as fast as the mac version. But I won't try photoshop ( may be I should, just to see).
Get a lot of ram and run windows 2000 pro, it is stable, no frill. Don't run XP, I think you will be disapointed by the speed. VPC is a good piece of software, your pc application will work, slower but it will work.
About Tiger, just found some more widgets (for dashboard), just click on the plus sign in the lower left side of the screen. I can even download more widget from apple, there's going to have hundred of them soon. Moer I use Tiger, more I love it!
Bye!
