SAAB touch-up paint no good?

I bought some touch-up paint from the dealer (Steel Grey). They tore the label off of the top of the box for some reason, so I don't see the paint code, but the bottle has a band around it roughly the same color as the car.
I applied it to some scratches on the car but it looks really dark. I didn't know any better so I tried to apply it with the built-in brush and blend it into the paint. Maybe I did it wrong.
Any tips for "fixing" this? It REALLY stands-out and looks WORSE than the original scratches did.
Any way to tell from a code on the bottle itself whether the dealer gave me the right color? The only place I think the code is is on the top of the tab on the box, which as I mentioned before is missing.
Thanks.
