The 9-3SS hasn't received the digital stuff. The 9-7X's will have the digital capability. Analog cell phone capability may be supported in some areas longer than others, maybe you'll be in a good area.
Dunno' how OnStar will handle the upgrade. Probably like a cell phone company in that new equipment will require a service contract with a substantial penalty for early termination.
By 2007 you're be able to get a GPS enabled phone, so the desireability and functionality of OnStar might be obsolete.
Ya' know OnStar is sorta' the reason, IMO, that the killer Saab European cell phone technology in European Saabs ain't availible here. To me it's sorta' at cross purposes to offer the unsophisticated OnStar service to Saab folks. OnStar is old tech. I'm very glad it's not on the current cars and that folks have to pay the $699 for the system if they do want it. It puts a little reality in the OnStar pitch, the reality that for $699 you can get a lotta' cell phone tech.
