bought a new mercedes 300 diesel in 1986, before they came to usa, bought a taxi model in denmark, had it loaded incl sunroof, paid $ 15500, kr 185225. for it, 1 doller was 11.95 kr, now doller is 6.00 kr, $ is low against other curency now.
Shipping on a volvo boat was $600.00 to jacksonville florida, picked it up there, drove it to N.Carolina, a shop there got it ready, and tested it on dyno for epa $500.00, they submitted the papers, charged $ 100.00 for that.
Before it arrived, paid $ 125.00 for a $ 50000. bond for 1 year, did the dot convertion myself, headlights, bumpers, extra door brazing, id sticker for door and a couple of other items. Submitted the papers to dot in washington dc, they gave me 2 year, they might want to inspect it, never did. sold car 5 years later 118000 miles, $ 18500 ( 1992 )

Denmark is the cheapest land to buy a new car in for export , because of their tax system ( cost of car + 100% + 25% sales tax )
