Took a 15% pay cut over a year an a half ago. Well worth it. The previous elements of stress, long uncertain hours, all pervasive cynicism, negativism, and extreme fatigue coupled with waking up at all hours was getting old. This on top of the health related issues.
Switched to a more healthy organization, which supports training, input, and recognizes progress and performance -- big difference.
What price sanity? What price health?
My feeling was if I could NOT afford the pay cut and live on the remainder, I had better start looking at my spending and life priorities.
Go for it. A previous mentor once said never reconsider a decision that was made properly, only consider your actions after the decision.
