5 years ago I was in the same boat, long hours no quality of life outside the job etc.

I left Maine, and that company, and went to work for a small company that was just starting up in the DC area.

Because it was a new company (and just starting up) I agreed to work for less then I could have gotten in DC but it was about the same that I worked for in Maine.

5 years later I am still with this company and have no plans on moving on anytime soon.

Well I could get more if I left and went to work for someone else. There is no way I am going to do that.

My job or career is a minor priority in my life (not the 1st things that some companies what it to be). There is time when it has to become a high priority (I am in wrong field if I want to work 9 to 5), but that does not happen very often.

If you are with a company that does not "treat you right" then I would move on pay cut or not. I was lucky to find a company that does so without taking a pay cut.
