It's new this season, so I don't know about battery longevity.
It seems to pretty much mow everything: tall, wet, whatever. They claim the electric motor is the equivalent of a 5hp gas, and I'd say that's about right, based on my previous gasoline mowers. I have managed to make it bog down a couple of times, but you can do that with any mower.
Compared to the gasoline, I've had to get used to two differences. First, the Neuton has a very thick (plastic) housing and a very narrow cutting swath, which has taken some mental adjustment on how far to overlap the rows so as not to leave an uncut strip. Second, it doesn't seem to mulch as well, particularly if the grass is tall, but that I think is more due to the design than to it being an electric.
But for me those adjustments are more than offset by the benefits: quiet (you can carry on a conversation with someone 20 feets away while the mower is running), exhaust-free, light-weight. I still have the gasoline mower, but I haven't used it since the Neuton came in.
When I bought mine, they had a six-month no-risk return offer.
