Vehicle base price is 91% of MSRP. There is no "transportation fee" ($720 off the top), no "dealer prep" ($130 off dealer cost that you never see, but it's in the price you pay when you buy domestically). There is a $500 "Owners Loyalty" discount which is a permanent fixture (but no other promotions).

Options are discounted slightly - somewhere close to USA "invoice."

You get a check for $2000 about half way between when you order the car and when you go and pick it up. "Walking around money." Most frequent flyer programs will get you to Amsterdam for "50,000 points" and round trip air from Amsterdam to Gothenburg is around $450.

You must pay $90 for a "Swedish Export Plate" that lasts up to 6 months. If you are staying longer, you need further registration.

You must obtain "acceptable" insurance or purchase insurance through Saab. Their minimum policy is 15 days and runs US$206. For longer periods, it costs more.

The dealer makes a commission on the sale. I have heard of dealers discounting their commission, but usually its for "other dealers' customers" - i.e., your local dealer is in New Jersey but you book the sale through a dealer in Florida. Personally, unless you hate your dealer, I think its a bad way to save another hundred bucks. If you *do* decide to play that game, it might make sense to have the car delivered through a third dealer, one you will never see again. And don't tell the service guy how you got the car.

The first night's lodging is available *only* if you take delivery in Trollhattan. And there is a fee if you take delivery anywhere else. And there is a fee for dropping off the car anwhere other than Gothenburg.
