Yes, 'tung oil finishes' are mostly varnish and really suck when trying to get a good rubbed oil finish. Getting your hands covered in varish is horrible. When working with tung oil you simply have some vegi oil on your hands and a quick washup with soap and water and your hands are clean. Note that the cloth that you use to apply and for wiping off the residual surface oil is a fire hazzard if collected and enclosed. I toss it where it is open to the air where it cannot retain and heat generated as it polymerizes.

Reduce the iar that the leftover oil is exposed to by colapsing the can or transfering to small jars.
