drove there and back from MI. SC has the lowest gas prices in the country and VA is second lowest (my experience) so plan on buying gas in those states to reduce your fuel costs.

Some stations in NC were out of gas, or premium only, on Sunday and yesterday. Stations in VA were rationing yesterday (limiting purchases to $30 at one station, to 20 gallons at another) whereas Friday there were no limits.

On the drive back it appeared everyone who had fuel was selling regular for less than $3, this includes NC, VA, WV, OH and MI. I carried a full 5-gallon can with me in case I encountered an isolated pocket with no fuel, the news was reporting this could be the case in MI and NC before we started the trip, but we never had a problem.
