theres a brook nearby and during snowmelt / heavy, heavy rain it can overflow and flood the basement. There is a pump, but it'llcome up 1 or 2" over the threshold at the exterior door.
This is my fiance's parents house, BTW.
I want carpet down there becuase it's much warmer and cozier in the winter. I dont really like carpet either for rooms (big hardwood fan), but it'll look good down their. It's being renovated into an office / extra bedroom space.
It still has faux-wood paneling and really, really old 70's style orange / green carpet right now :)
