I don't know the answers, but maybe I can help with the right question...
You know the oil pressure is about the same, but you don't (?) know the flow rate of oil. Say the Stude needs to flow twice the gallons per hour vs. the Saab. Then you'd want 2 Saab filters plumbed in parallel with each other. This flow rate is not related to the volume (inventory) in the sump.
Then there's the filtering capacity. Older engine, different metals, probably higher wear-rate, etc. Even if the oil flow rate is about the same, the filter may fill with dirt faster. I'm not sure how you'd know, except change the filter at 1000 miles & cut it open for inspection?
If you don't drive it much, this might just be acedemic if you change oil based on time anyway.
