There will probably be more scratches. I'd say get used to it and refinish it when it gets real bad. I'll take a pet and a scratched floor anyday over a pet and a pethaired carpet.
If you don't like / aren't good at trimming nails, there are some "pet beauty" shops that people run as home businesses that do nail trimming efficiently and cheaply.
We have a hemlock and pine floor, which scratches easily (but looks nice). The cat leaves scratches when racing around the house. The cat also leaves scratches from climbing up and down doorframes (hardwood). She uses various furniture for scratching. We keep a squirtgun handy for when the cat wants to pick my Platinum Audio 806 speakers' grilles. She doesn't go for the speakers except to get my attention/wants to play.
