I'm a Mac guy so it seems obvious to me.
The iBook is very comparable to the IBM in RAM, disk size etc. Weight is about 1 oz different The screen may be larger on the IBM but the resolution is the same 1024 X 768 - so you'll see the same amout of a page or picture. Security is not an issue for me so the IBM fingerprint reader seems more of a gimmick than a tool.
The iBook comes w/ a bunch of software that you'll actually use. It has a DVD burner (vs CD) and a Firewire port not found on the IBM. You'll actually use these. A bluetooth keyboard and mouse for home or desk makes a very easy setup. Both computers will require purchase of Office- which works just fine on the Mac. Add sure compatability w/ partners and the choice is , like I said, obvoius. (Consider negotiating for a 15" Powerbook!)
