The only drawback of a Mac is that if your organization uses Windows, there are some slight incompatibilities. However, if all your co-workers are using Macs, that problem goes away. I have a Mac at home and a Windows machine at work, and a all-Windows work network, and I find my Mac is more compatible with my Windows network than the darn Windows machine.
I find OS X to be wonderfully stable - much better than my Win2K and Win95 experience. I also find my Mac to be a better piece of hardware. Various studies have shown Macs to be more reliable, hardware-wise.
Yes, there isn't quite the range of software available for the Mac as for Windows. That hasn't killed me - the important stuff (and plenty not-so-important stuff) is available.
I use both machines, and I'd drop the Windows machine in a heartbeat; I'd kill to keep the Mac.
