Need advice on how to keep the peace. Im surrounded by homes in my little neighborhood. About 6 or 7 in direct sight and sound of each other, but in a tiny village, hence we took the chance and moved here thinking and hoping those that live there must live there because it's quiet and down to earth. Well, needless to say theres always one A-hole in the bunch. Seriously everyone else is almost as if they arent there at all, and I am assuming us included as they are to us, we are to them. "Do unto others as you would have done to you" etc. The sore thumb of the bunch has ATVs, barking dogs, loud partys (everyone is entitled to summer partys understood) chickens that roam the neighborhood and scratch at others flower beds etc ( can you imagine? ) and the clincher: burning barrels are allowed by the township, paper and cardboard only. If you burn cardboard and paper,it will burn within 10 or 15 minutes and be totally extinguished after that, he seems to burn plasitics of some sort, as his burning continues to smolder for hours,we counted up to 6 hours of putrid-acrid smoke waifting through the neighborhood. It's becoming a quality of life issue, and upon approaching him on the subject he naturally became belligerent and accused me of harassing him. Not surprisingly now he seems to have something to burn (smolder) every day. He is in his 20s and immature, with an attitude like the world is his, tough if anyone else is inconvienenced by his actions. I checked with the town and they advised filing a complaint, but you can imagine where that would go as he would know immediately who filed the complaint, other neighbors are like turtles in their shells and seem to just put up with it all. I really don't want to cause friction but I cannot accept his actions eroding my basic right to fresh air and a certain quality of life as a homeowner. Where do I go from here besides moving? People suck, I believe in Karma..gosh I hope so.
