Some indy mechanics use only original SAAB-branded parts, especially for brakes, for a couple of reasons: 1. if they squeek, they can point to the parts and say "hey, I used the original parts, that's how they are"; 2. there are no questions about safety, stopping distances, etc., for reason stated in #1. Mechanics hate "do-overs", as they have to do the same job twice for no additional payment to keep customers happy, plus then have to deal with disposal/return of the now-used parts; if they use original parts, the chances of a do-over are minimized. We can all buy non-SAAB-branded parts for much, much less - and most of us do - so please check what parts were used before you escalate this. As NickR said, the price could be in line if genuine SAAB parts were used.

Also note that the "tacky gold color" may be cadmium plated parts, which is actually a good thing, highly resistant to rust. Unless you are fanatical about maintaining cleanliness on your brakes, they will be coated with a fine black powder (brake dust) within a week, masking their color. You are probably noticing how clean and shiny they are when new, and haven't seen them this way for about 30,000 miles.
