and you can't expect it to run something like Doom3 well, no matter what system it's run on. You're right that Nvidia cards are generally faster in Doom3, but other games run faster on ATi's cards. In Halflife2 (which IMO is vastly better when it comes to both gameplay and gfx) the ATi cards are typically a bit faster. But yes, in the mentioned budget range, a 6600GT is probably the best choice.
