Saab not a "status symbol"...

Here in New York, Saabs are not regarded as a "status symbol" everyone looks and stares but noone dares to actually buy one and park it next to his neighbors BMW beast or uber-Benz.
Saab's are still considered quirky, especially by those two strive to keep up with the Joneses. In Bay Ridge, Brooklyn everyone and their monther plunks down 40% of their monthly funds to sit in a "Beemah".
I'm sure the reliability issues are a part of it but I would bet it's the perceived value of the car in the buyers' eyes that sets the low resale.
This is also the thread that weaves us together. You see, it takes a certain kind of individual to purchase a Saab, even moreso to purchase one and be proud of it! BMW's and Mercs have long been status symbols, even before Saab dropped the hatchback and redesigned the 9-3
Joey six pack or Average mary doesn't want to hear "a wha? a sabb?" no she wants to drive down the avenue in that permium german sedan. After that supply x demand takes over.
