Isn't that the truth ...

I graduated with a BA in psychology.
Immediately after graduation, I worked at a summer camp as a counselor.
Then, in the fall, after sending out tons of resumes, and getting no responses, I get a phone call. From my college diving coach (springboard). He has a friend who needs someone to fill a spot in their high-diving show. In China. For the next six months.
So, from September 1996 to April 1997, I'm living in China, doing a show 4 times daily, and my "work" is playing around in a pool! I was actually a professional diver for about another year--that summer, I did the show at Six Flags in NJ, and then went back to China in August until December.
Shortly after coming back, I got a job in Human Services, and have been in the field since.
Take whatever opportunities come your way, but keep your overall goal in mind. And there's nothing wrong with working your butt off for a year or two--all kinds of overtime--to get yourself into a better financial situation.
Good luck.
