The Saturn VUE comes stock as FWD. You pay extra for AWD. You can't get AWD with the 4cyl which I would probably be after. I don't really need AWD but would probably get it if it was an option. Snow tires are more important than AWD because they help you stop and turn. The added weight of AWD would make an AWD vehicle without snow tires even worse than a FWD vehicle without snow tires when it comes to stopping and turning (ie; avoiding accidents)
Yes, I like the Saturn VUE. Not the interior but it's not bad. I also like the new 9-3 and 9-2x. The new 9-3 has essentially the same space as the VUE and gets better gas mileage and is arguably safter regardless of crash test ratings. The AWD VUE lists at the same price as one could get a base 9-3 for. Given the choice I'd choose the 9-3. The difference in price would have to be large for me to go to the VUE.
