Normally I'd say... yeah, my bad... time for a new stereo. However the coffee wasn't mine, and it's hardly a new spill.
Bought my 9-3SE almost a year ago from a now-defunct dealer (Gordon Saab in Ann Arbor). In the last few months I've had an intermittant issue with the radio cutting out or the SID shutting not displaying the station. Well the dealer pulled the head unit today and lo and behold there's a nasty old coffee spill running from the dash cup holder down into the stereo.
The service rep was very understanding about it, but explained there really wasn't much he could do as: #1 they're not the original dealer #2 it's been so long since purchase #3 it's not a stock GM stereo #4 warranties don't cover negligence. He suggested calling Saab Customer Service and starting a file, which I will do tomorrow, but I'm understandably a little annoyed about it.
Just wanted to run this by the Saabnet community and see if anyone has ideas for possible outcomes or suggestions on dealing with Saab CS. In the end it wouldn't kill me if I had to put in an after-market stereo, I want to use my iPod, but I'd rather not blow the cash if I don't have to.
