Road Rage

...saw a nice little display of road rage last night. I'm stopped at a light. There are maybe 30 or so cars lined up, and we are near the mall, so it's a bit backed up. Perhaps only a few cars get to proceed each light cycle due to the congestion. There is this big new style Dodge Durango behind me, and the driver is mere millimeters from my rear bumper, and laying on the horn. I cannot move, since I can't go through the cars ahead of me, which aren't moving. The light turns red again....and he's still beeping. I consider squirting him with my rear washer (The rear washer on my 9-3 broke, and now shoots a stream of water about 6 feet straight back.) But, I figure that this guy is obviously a nut, so I didn't want to provoke him further. I manage to get over a lane to the right, and now he's next to me....laying on the horn at the next car that's now infront of him. Some people start beeping back. I look into the gargantuan SUV and find an equally gargantuan, obese man, mouthing what I would assume were profanities, making all kinds of hand motions in between his horn honks. I mean no offense to large SUV owners, or to obese people (I know it is usually a disorder, and not a result of gluttony)....but, seeing that very large, very irritated man, in his very large SUV, on the verge of a breakdown, honking at people while at a red light was both a source of entertainment and concern for me. It reminded me of the George Carlin bit I had seen on TV a night earlier, about how us Americans are simply eaters and consumers. I bet its highly likely that the driver of that SUV was irritated because the traffic was slowing him down in achieving his goal of eating, or consuming. I managed to get out of there, as I was now in the turning lane, but I hope it didn't escalate to anything more serious.
Anyways, be safe this holiday weekend, and if anything like this happens, be cool...its not worth it.
