She paid $200 for it. An old Craftsman or MTD would be worth lots less, I'm guessing. Snowblowers can last a long time in most areas because they are only used 10-20 times per year. But you've got to take care of them.

My mom's old blower is still working great, in fact I got it because the ignition died, it was going to be months before it could be fixed, and it was snowing like crazy. She bought a new Toro PowerliteE, and it died two years and 2mo later with a dramatic bang. The engine was trashed, likely by broken main bearing, two months out of warranty. Seems to be a problem with that vintage Powerlite.
