When I was in Australia for a few months about 15 years ago, I bought an old Ford s/w to travel around in. I bought it in Melbourne and got a "crash course" so to speak in their unique turn lanes. I also liked the four-way diagonal pedestrian lights. At a busy intersection, part of the traffic light cycle inclues an "X" which means that pedestrians can cross diagonally. Very neat.
I got used to driving on the left very quickly, but I never got used to looking right, then left, then right to pull out into traffic. Only by grace of God was I not T-boned...
