Noel: I am one to whom "retro" has a real meaning! No offense to Saab, but one of the happiest cars I rode in (Outside of my Mom & Dad's Durant), Was a 1965 Plymouth Valiant I pulled out of a Nebraska Junkyard and overhauled the engine in and drove to CA. That car was balanced, just like Petty's cars on the circle track. In 1966, they ruined that car's handling, and I swear I will never buy a 1966 Plymouth! In Saab it was the same way: I loved the uniqueness of the early Saab Strokers, see: (http://kskid_2k.tripod.com/ancient history), they were an incubator for budding engineers, but the v4 was a mandated surrender to the USA EPA, and the beautiful handling of that little stroker (for FWD), was ruined by the heavier V4, and the dependability/maintenance by the plumbers nightmare of H20 distribution pipes. Mandated government aside, (is that possible?), My ideal vehicle would have been a stroker with the V4 altenator and water pump, disk brakes. That stroker combination water pump/generator may have been one of the major reasons my second wife divorced me! Now that my new life, for the rest of my life has been mandated by the current Ks. matriarchal (sp?) society, I look forward to driving into the sunset with the best Saab government will allow me to buy!
