At work on my LCD I use 1280x1024 (native is 1600x1200), but only because my employer doesn't give us sufficient permissions to use "large" screen fonts (normal fonts are pretty tiny if you go to a higher resolution. It still looks ok to me, but those IBM panels were pretty expensive.
At home we run 1024x768. I've run higher, but my CRT is starting to loose focus a little at higher resolutions (it can run even higher than 1600 x 1200).
The graphics card is an NVidia 6800GT /256mb, so it can push any resolution I'm likely to use, and it has both analog and digital outputs.
As for chain stores, we've got CompUSA and Best Buy, and that's it. Both seem awfully expensive, but I'll think about it.
I've heard that Samsung, LG, and Philips make a lot of the panels, so maybe buying one directly from them is a good idea.
Thanks for the input.
