agreed, i have one of the first ones out (5 GB 1G, no dock) and it still works fine after a new battery a couple years ago.
no current model will fit all my music, so that's not really an issue. the dock has been around for years, and likely will continue to be the standard interface. how many cars come with a dock connector now?
great for long drives/train rides. i don't listen to it a lot otherwise, but i don't get out much. if i had to hang out in the mall, f'rinstance, i'd have it on just to drown out the excreble classic rock every store seems to insist on playing all the time.
i used to put it on special when i did laundry. anyone know who the dj 'delilah' is? gawd, ick! yuckamodo!!
i guess my point is, just get one. don't worry about it becoming obsolete. if you want a new one, someone will buy the old one.
