Hello everyone,
This post is to inform you about a scammer here on TSN and act as a call to action to do something about it.
This person is named Andrew Malarney. He also goes by the alias Andrew Charles. He is roughly 25 years old. He resides in Branford, CT. His email address is toujourslemeilleur(AT)gmail.com. His phone number is 203-215-9496. And he is a theif who has stolen alot of money from TSN members.
I sent this person a $650 USPS Money Order via USPS Priority Mail on January 4th, 2006 for a c900 airflow kit advertised here on TSN classifieds. Two weeks later, nothing. I contacted Andrew and he had a bogus response ("I'm in LA on work") Ok. Another week, nothing. ("My best friend just died") Ok. Another week, nothing. ("It's all right here - just haven't shipped it out yet") Over a month later, nothing. ("I tried shipping it to you but you gave me the wrong address") I checked both UPS and FedEx to see if a package had been shipped from him to me, nothing. I immediately requested my money, more promises, nothing. I continued to try and get in contact with Andrew; and he denied all attempts of contact, never replied to emails or returned calls. I finally threatened him with prosecutiong and he immediately responded. This is where I'm at now.
I found out Andrew Malarney has done this to several TSN members (roughly 5 or more) and has stolen several hundred dollars from each person, a rough total of over $3000.
He has also recently been in a bit of trouble after being arrested for stealing a boat in New Haven.
In one case he hacked someone's email and erased all correspondance with them so there would be no evidence, and no case against him.
I called Branford police, found his real address which differed from the one he provided me. I am also contacting Birbarie Marine, where he stole the boat from, to find out which lawyer they used - so it will be easier to get him.
So who else has been scammed by this person, and when will he use a different alias to scam one of us again? If he has no problems taking our money or stealing boats, I would bet he will act again. I never had one single negative experience with TSN classifieds until now, and I don't want this kind of thing to ruin our network where we can trust eachother - otherwise this resource would lose its luster and value.
I contacted a lawyer here in Savannah, GA and I was told I could prosecute him for fraud as well as recieving my money back. I was also thinking if several of us got together, the case would be much stronger, we would all get our money back, and it would go even faster.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Let's get this loser.
Thanks and take care,
Taylor
