I work a few hours a week at *$s and love customers that crack about the price of coffee and why we have so many varieties.
When you ask them (this, in a pretty high-brow area of Richmond) if they ever look at a wine list in a restaurant, they look at you like you have two heads. Of course they do!
Coffee is pretty complex, and with the right proportion, grind, water and freshness, is at least as worthy of study as Oregon pinot noir at $10/glass or microbrewed ale.
Any barrista at Buckies will probably love to talk your ear off about the merits of their favorite brew. Ask one sometime.
In the meantime, if you brew at home, use fresh beans in the correct proportion, grind them at home in a BURR GRINDER (on sale right now...), use good water and discover the nuances for yourself.
At the store, do like we do and order double short lattes or triple tall Americanos. Log into your T-Mobile account and listen to some good music while you work. Enjoy!
