I agree there is no practicality in plant-based fuel. I am very excited about the rear electric motor and combo starter-alternator-front-traction arrangement. My ideal power unit arrangement would be a 50hp diesel or steam engine driving an alternator, a small 12-mile battery, and 50kW front and rear electric motors. The drive motors would have automatically shifted 2- or 3-speed planetary transmissions. I believe the best hybrids will have all-electric propulsion separated from the chemically-powered charging system.
