not trying to hijack the thread, but what constitutes good oil and good filters?

from years of being a mechanic, i have little if anything good to say about castrol or quaker state, and even less good to say about fram filters.

i avoid 10w-40 altogether, and am starting to doubt 10w-30. it just looks too light (color).

does anyone sell 5w40 synthetic in 5 liter containers? how bout 15w-40?

i use mann or wix filters. thinking about using volvo or vw filters as they are a bit bigger, but have to go thru the ones i have in the garage first.

i tend to change every 4k or so, or when it starts to get stanky. (you know the fart kazoo honda smell? the dirty pickup truck smell? the fwd eagle smell? smells like a crankcase full of sewage)
