I too recently found out about the place and checked it out a couple times! I found I could launch a kayak to fish in Jamaica Bay. I also couldn't believe such a huge paved surface can be almost deserted. The second time, I took my wife so she could practice stick shift. Couldn't find a better place. As long as it doesn't get much busier during summer, it would be a great place to see other Saabers. One time I was there I saw a cop patrolling, so be careful when you speed. Check out the visitor center. It's part of the National Park system and it seems there's a plan to turn it into a nice recreation area. But, till then, it's one big wide open road for turbo jets ;-)
