Mike- yes the G6 has lock buttons that stick up on the rear doors, even when they are locked. You can manually lift the lock button and then open the door from the inside. You are correct in saying that if they were flush there would be no need for child safety locks. The curious thing is that if the Malibu and G6 are both 'W' platform cars, the Malibu is said to have the power auto locking and the child safety locks (even the base Malibu). The child safety locks are not shown for the G6 on any web site however they are clearly shown in the owner's manual. The round style is displayed that you can twist with a key, and there is a round hole with a rubber plug in it where I think they would have been installed. They were probably there for '05 but taken away in '06.
