Hey Mike...
LOL! great sign!
Yeah the cops here are absolutely pedantic! I got caught recently by a fixed speed camera doing 108km/h in a 100km/h zone on a freeway nonetheless... so with the speedo tolerence allowed I got fined for doing 106km/h!! Fuggin barstools!! It was a aud$131 fine and 2 demerit points lost - we are allowed 12 demerits in 3 years, and if you go over this allowance you lose your license for 6 months. The speeding fines here are absolutely rediculous and a revenue raiser and in my opinion such a waste of police resources. Now a days you get people sitting exactly on 100km/h and constantly looking at their speedos (not the swim wear!! haha). I think this causes more problems as people are then not totally aware on whats going on around them.
Another time I got stung for doing 120km/h in a 100km/h zone... by an umarked car with mobile radar that was driving the other way!! This was out on country roads where visibility was excellent and not may cars around! aud$220 fine.
We are probably the worst state in Australia with fines for speeding and they don't even take into the fact that the seedo manufacturers make the speedo with a -/+10% error!!! Illegal I think!
Counter this with when I was over in the USA and drove from San Jose to LA. I sat on 85 all the way on the freeway (65 zone). At one stage had a cop pass me and he didnt even pull me over!
Anyways, enough of my rant! Victoria is a beautiful place though... amazing scenery!
cheers
Steve
